Chapter Thirteen

Khushi arrived onto campus and got stared at like usual. Though this time there was a reason, since she had disappeared. Khushi went directly to class.

Arnav arrived onto campus. He was late. He didn't see Khushi anywhere and thought she went to class since he was late. The day passed, but Arnav didn't see Khushi anywhere. When he went to the library, Khushi wasn't there either.

Why isn't she here, Arnav wondered. Could she be avoiding me? No! Why would she! After yesterday, she wouldn't do that. But where is she? ... maybe she's just making up work.

Later in the day, Arnav didn't see Khushi at all. At the end of the day, he knew she'd be going to the daycare, so he got out early and waited. He saw Khushi appear. She was looking side to side and it was obvious to Arnav then that she was avoiding him.

Khushi walked as was about to reach the gate, when Arnav appeared.

"Where were you all day Khushi?

Khushi just blinked. "W-what do you mean?"

"Cut the crap Khushi!"

Everyone turned and looked at them.

"Why are to avoiding me," Arnav asked.

"What does it matter," Khushi asked. "Huh? What does it matter?!"

Everyone's eyes widened. They had never heard Khushi raise her voice.

"Seriously Arnav, can you give me some space?! You're always sticking onto me like glue!"

Arnav gaped.

Khushi took in a deep breath. "Look, I've been thinking about it and after much consideration... I don't want to be with you anymore."

Arnav's jaw dropped. "... what?"

"Seriously Arnav, I need my space. I can't focus with you hovering over me! You're everywhere I go! ... I don't wanna see you anymore."

"What?! Are you serious?!"

"Yes! Yes I'm serious! In fact, I don't wanna see your face anymore!"

Khushi huffed and left Arnav there. Everyone watched as Khushi left, including Shyam. He knew exactly why she was doing this.

*~*

Khushi went running home. When she arrived, she saw workers decorating the place and people holding trays of sweets.  Khushi was completely confused, when she saw her mother with the neighbor women.

"Arre Khushi," one of the ladies exclaimed.

They went to Khushi and hugged her.

"Are you excited," another women asked.

Khushi scrunched her eyebrow. "What?"

"Oh look at her being modest," Garima said. "I mean it's her wedding day and..."

After that, Khushi paid no attention. She was horrified! Wedding?! That to today?! She had no idea.

"Ab jaldi karo Khushi," a neighbor said. "You have to get ready quick!

"Haan," the first one exclaimed. "Otherwise who will get your mehendi and haldi done?"

Khushi held her tears back and nodded. She walked away and then ran to her room. She shut the door cried and cried, feeling gravely bad for what she said to Arnav, and now for this.

"I'm so sorry Arnav," she cried into her pillow. "I'm really sorry!

She just couldn't believe it that she was going to leave her beloved today.

And she wanted to marry him.

*~*

Arnav, pissed, went storming off. He went to the park and kicked a tree. He was really pissed and couldn't believe what had just happened. Grabbing a rock, he threw it into the lake and screamed. He came down to his knees and fisted the grass, really pissed.

"Arnav?"

Arnav looked up and saw Shyam. "What?!"

Shyam flinched but didn't back away. He went over to him and Arnav just looked away.

Shyam crouched beside him. "Listen man, I know you're upset-"

"Upset? I'm fucking pissed!"

Shyam tried to not flinch, but he did. "I know... but it's not Didi's fault."

"Not her fault?!" Arnav stood up. "How the fuck-"

"My parents are forcing her marriage!"

This time Arnav flinched. "... what?"

"Di is getting married! TODAY! By now her haldi must've taken place and her mehendi must be starting-"

Arnav grabbed Shyam by his collar and pulled him up. "Why didn't you tell me before?"

"I was but I didn't see you-"

Arnav pushed him away and cursed under her breath.

"We have to do something Arnav! I can't see my sister's life get destroyed!"

"Well if she had told me-"

"She didn't fucking know!"

"What-"

"She wasn't told! My parents did that on purpose and Didi didn't find out till she got home. At least, that was their plan-"

"What kind of fucking parents do you have?!"

"Fucked up ones! Now quickly do something!!!"

"Don't worry... I got this."

Chapter Twelve

"Marry me. Marry me Khushi Kumari Gupta."

Khushi couldn't believe what she was hearing. Arnav Singh Raizada was asking her to marry him.

"B-b-but Arnav... we only know each other for a short time-"

"I know." He cupped her face with a hand. "But I know you're the one."

Khushi was touched by his words. "Arnav...."

Arnav kissed her forehead, her cheeks, nose, chin, and then lips. "Marry me," he said, resting his forehead on hers.

Khushi knew she loved him. And she knew he loved her. But should she say yes?

Dhak-dhak! Dhak-dhak!
Dhak-dhak! Dhak-dhak!

I should say yes, she wondered.

Dhak-dhak-dhak-dhak!
Dhak-dhak-dhak-dhak!
Dhak-dhak-dhak-dhak!
Dhak-dhak-dhak-dhak!

Her heart was right. And her mind agreed. She should say yes.

Khushi was about to say yes when she remembered her parents. She remembered their cruel words. They would never agree. Ever.

"No," she whispered.

Arnav, who was nibbling on her neck, looked up. "What?"

Khushi got up and Arnav let her. Khushi sat and thought of what her parents would say. Arnav moved in front of her and got on his knees and cupped her face.

"Khushi, what's wrong? Why are you saying no?"

Khushi shook her head. "No, Arnav, I can't-"

"What-"

"My parents would never agree!"

Arnav shook his head, but Khushi continued.

"They always say how they're going to have me marry someone of their choice-"

"I don't care."

"Arnav-"

"I. Don't. Care. Understood? You and I will get married, and I don't care if they agree or not."

"But Arnav-"

"But nothing. Okay? Nothing. I don't care what they have to say. Especially with the way they treat you, then fuck no."

Khushi looked down.

"I'm sorry Khushi," Arnav said, stroking her cheek with his thumb, "but that's how I feel."

Khushi looked up at him and nodded. Arnav nodded as well, and then held her hand tightly. Khushi did as well, placing their hands on her lap.

"So, Khushi Kumari Gupta... will you marry me?"

Khushi looked into Arnav's eyes and then sighed. "As much as I want to say yes.... Arnav, at least speak to your father? Don't you think we're rushing into it?"

"No Khushi, absolutely not. You love me and I love you. So what's the problem?"

"I need some time to think," she caressed his face. "'Kay?"

Arnav looked away.

"Please?"

He looked back at her and her humble smile. He held her hand and nodded.

"Fine," he muttered.

Khushi leaned in and pecked him on his lips. "Just a short time. That's all I ask for. I love you Arnav - I really do."

"I love you too Khushi. With my life and soul."

Khushi nodded and kissed him again. "I'll see you in school, okay?"

Arnav nodded. "Okay."

And Khushi got up to leave, that is, after their kiss.

*~*

When Khushi got home, she saw some people leaving. When she got inside, there was a whole bunch of stuff around.

"What's going on," Khushi asked.

"Your alliance was made," Garima said.

Khushi flinched. "What?"

"Your alliance was made. You will be getting married to a boy from your college."

Khushi's jaw dropped.

"Now you can't put is to shame," Shashi said. "The boy is well educated and we found their family worthy of ours. So, your marriage is planned with that boy."

Khushi cried. "You can't do that!"

"How dare you raise your voice! And yes, we just did! Now get out of my face and go to your room!"

Khushi felt really hurt and ran to her room crying. She held her pillow tightly and cried. This was just what she feared and now she was getting married to someone she didn't even know!

What would she do now?

There was a bang at her door and Khushi opened it to see her mother.

"If you mess up this time Khushi, then there will be a big problem," she warned. "Please don't mess up this time."

"But Ma-"

"Please Khushi. I beg you. Don't mess this up."

This was the first time Garima had ever asked so much from Khushi. She didn't know what to do at this point. She just nodded and Garima left.

Khushi sat down on her bed. What am I supposed to do now, Khushi wondered. I can't just abandon Arnav but... but my parents. I know there's harsh to me but... but they're the reason I'm in this world.

Khushi wiped her tears away and looked at her reflection. She rearranged herself and looked at herself.

Don't forget your life goal, a side of her said. Your goal is to prove your parents wrong. That you as a woman can go far.

But does that mean you have to real your heart, the other side said. You love Arnav been with Arnav, you could do that!

Maybe, but it's not the same. You can't let your emotions get in the way Khushi! If you do, you'll never be able to prove to your parents that you're strong and capable of anything.

But-

But nothing! You have to prove them wrong! Or your life will remain crap! Mind what I said.

Khushi blinked back to reality. She looked left to right and knew what she had to do.

Chapter Eleven

"Take that away," Arnav yelled. "How many time do I have to say that I won't eat any of this shit!"

"But beta-"

"No Dai Ma," Arnav said, interrupting her. "Take it away."

"Beta you need to take your medication-"

"I don't give a fuck!"

"Chote!"

Both turned to see Aryan standing at the door.

"Apologize this instant," Aryan boomed.

"Sorry," Arnav muttered.

"It's okay beta," and Dai Ma went to take the tray.

"Leave it," Aryan said.

Dai Ma nodded and she left.

Arnav just crossed his arms. "I won't eat."

"Maybe. But unless someone tells you-"

"No one can."

"Not even me?"

Arnav froze. Out behind from Aryan came Khushi. The minute she saw him, her eyes widened. Arnav didn't look like the beautiful man she knew. His beard had excessively grown and his hair was messed up. He was under his duvet and his eyes were wide, looking at her.

At the sight of him, Khushi had tears flowing. She couldn't control herself anymore and went running to Arnav, wrapping her arms around his neck and holding onto him tightly. Arnav held her and had her sit down.

Khushi pulled away and cupped his face. "What have you done to yourself? I didn't think it was this bad when your father told me but... what the hell?!"

Arnav looked amused. "'What the hell'?"

"Don't you dare say a word Arnav Singh Raizada!"

Khushi got up and Arnav reached out, but she was out of reach.

"Khushi, come back-"

"Shh! Not one word out of your mouth!"

Khushi picked up the tray and came back around and ripped some roti and dipped it in the curry. "Open your mouth."

Arnav just looked at her.

"Open your mouth!"

Arnav did, not moving his eyes away from Khushi. Khushi fed Arnav and not once did Arnav look away. Aryan was grateful and thought to himself.

If Chote and Khushi married, Aryan thought, then that would be spectacular. I have never seen Chote so serious about a girl before and the way he is with Khushi.... He looked up. I think I've found our daughter in-law Shalini, and then he left to leave the two alone.

Khushi had Arnav eat everything, even the kheer. When Arnav finished up, Khushi got up but Arnav stopped her.

"Just put it aside," Arnav said. "Someone will come in to take it."

Khushi nodded and placed the tray aside and then sat next to Arnav. The two just looked at each other for a moment, when a worker came in. The two snapped out of it and the worker left.

"I... I should get going," Khushi whispered.

She was about to get up, but Arnav caught her hand and pulled her in.

"Not so fast Khushi. You have to tell me what happened."

Khushi gulped.

"Why didn't you want to see me?"

Khushi took in a deep breath and then told him everything. How her mom got a call from a stranger, how her mother yelled and insulted her, and how her father threatened to do something bad to him.

Arnav shook his head and cupped his face. "Khushi, if your father knew who he was talking about, he never would've said anything."

"Maybe, but-"

"Besides, no one would ever be able to stop me from reaching you. Ever.

"Arnav-"

"No Khushi. No matter what happens, I will ALWAYS love you. Okay? ALWAYS. No matter what, I will protect you." He held her face with both hands. "And I will have you."

Khushi held his hands and looked down, tears threatening to flow.

"Shh... Khushi, don't cry," he soothed.

But the tears dropped and Arnav hugged her to comfort her. Khushi held onto him tightly and kissed him on the cheek. Arnav pulled away and wiped her tears away with his thumbs and kissed her forehead.

Khushi squirmed. "Arnav, your beard is poking me."

"Hey! It's not that bad-"

"Are you kidding me? Get up. Right now. Go get rid of it. Your grizzles are fine but this is ridiculous!"

"What," he exclaimed, faking his shock.

Khushi giggled. "Go. Because underneath that mess is my beautiful man."

Arnav smiled and was about to kiss her, but Khushi stopped him.

"If you don't shave," she began, "then you can't kiss me."

Arnav in the blink of an eye dashed to the bathroom, leaving a giggling Khushi behind. Soon Arnav came out and went back to Khushi.

"Now then," he said, and leaned in to kiss her.

"Arnav-"

But Arnav kissed her. The two got caught off by it and Arnav deepened the kiss. How and when, they had no idea, but in the end, Khushi ended up lying down on Arnav's bed, with Arnav on top. When Khushi needed to catch her breath, she pulled away and Arnav moved to her neck and nibbled on it. Khushi then realized their position and clutched onto Arnav's shirt, over his chest.

"Arnav, stop," Khushi said, pushing him away.

Arnav let go and looked down at her. "What's wrong?"

Khushi looked to the side and Arnav realized the position they were in. Khushi was about to get up, but Arnav pinned her down.

"Arnav-"

Arnav leaned in close and Khushi went crimson. She couldn't look at him, for his gaze was intense, and she looked away.

"Khushi?"

She shut her eyes.

Arnav nuzzled the crook of her neck. He started to nibble on it and Khushi's hand instinctively went into his hair. He bit down hard and Khushi fisted his hair.

"Ah," she cried out.

Arnav let go and Khushi looked up at him as he looked down at her. Arnav ran the back of his hand down her cheek and Khushi shuddered.

"No one..."

Khushi looked up at Arnav.

"... no one can ever - not any human being or force - can ever separate me from you Khushi. I will always protect you and will have you, no matter what."

Khushi smiled with tears in her eyes.

Arnav leaned in and kissed her on her lips, hard. Khushi wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back with all her love.

Arnav broke away. "Marry me," he whispered against her lips.

Khushi looked up at him in shock. "Wha... what?"

"Marry me. Marry me Khushi Kumari Gupta."

Chapter Ten

Aryan and a worker walked into Arnav's room. Arnav was laying back in bed, his arms crossed, looking out the window, when Aryan and the worker came in. Arnav acknowledged their presence and then went went back to looking out the window. The worker set the food down and Aryan sat down at the foot of the bed.

"Chote," Aryan said, "have something to eat."

"No," Arnav said lowly."

"Chote, you have to eat."

"I don't want to."

Aryan came closer. "Alright Chote, what is going on? For the past few days, you've been acting like this. What's the deal?"

"Nothing."

Aryan sighed. "I'm your father Chote; I know."

"No you don't."

"Just cause I'm not your mother."

Arnav looked up at him. "No."

"Then?"

Arnav looked down and sighed. "Dad, please, don't ask."

"But I am."

"Why?"

"Because it's obvious that you're bothered and upset."

Arnav rolled his eyes and looked away.

"And it's obvious that... this isn't just any problem... but a girl problem."

Arnav's eyes shot up at his fathers. "How'd you know?"

"You forget that your old man has already gone through the phase."

Arnav looked side to side.

"Now tell me: what exactly is the problem?"

"... I don't want to say anything."

Aryan sighed. "Fine... but, at least eat."

He got up and left Arnav's room. Later, Dai Ma came in to take the tray, but Arnav hadn't touched a single thing on it.

"Beta, why aren't you eating," she said, tears forming.

"Im not hungry."

"But if you don't eat, you'll die," she cried.

Arnav looked at her with raged eyes. "THEN I'D RATHER DIE!"

Dai Ma flinched and she quickly left, crying. Arnav got mad at himself and threw the lamp off his right-bedside table. Aryan came back that instant and was pissed.

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON," Aryan boomed.

If there was anyone who could tame Arnav, it was Aryan, and Arnav cooled down and looked away.

"Seriously Chote, you HAVE to tell me what's eating you! If you don't tell me, then how can I help you?!"

"I don't need any help?"

"Really? It doesn't seem like you're getting anywhere, the way I see it!"

Arnav just looked at Aryan. "Dad-"

"Don't call me that. If you really thought of me as your dad, the. You'd tell me so I could help you. There is nothing in this work that can stop me from giving my only child his happiness. ... but I guess you don't care."

Aryan started to walk away and just when he was at the door, Arnav spoke.

"Khushi."

Aryan stopped and looked at him confused.

"Her name is Khushi."

"Khushi what?"

"Khushi Kumari Gupta."

"Gupta... meaning Shashi Gupta's daughter?"

Arnav looked away and nodded.

"So...?"

Arnav sighed and decided to tell his father everything. He told Aryan everything from the day he met Khushi, up until now.

"So that's what it is," Aryan said, when Arnav finished.

"Yeah," he said in a low voice.

"And you didn't tell me this before? Why?"

"... I don't know."

Aryan looked away in frustration and then looked back at Arnav. "Chote, if you told me earlier, I would've done something. I could've helped."

Arnav looked at him.

"And I still am," and he got up to leave.

Arnav was confused and unsure, so he got up. "Dad-"

"I will do what it takes to keep my son happy," Aryan said, looking back at him. "No matter what," and he left.

Arnav was left confused. "... what's he gonna do?"

*~*

Later that day, Arnav had started vomiting as well. His health deteriorated and he had gotten sick. Aryan had the doctor come I and told him that he would have to eat, but Arnav wouldn't budge. Nor would he take his medication. Aryan knew at that point that he would have to do something.

And do it fast.

*~*

Khushi was in the kitchen, preparing lunch. Her father was at work and her mother went to do a little shopping. Shyam was at school, leaving Khushi alone.

It was during her cooking, that Khushi would eat a little. And in the middle of the night, she would sneak into the kitchen and would eat then. She just couldn't control her hunger anymore and she just had to eat.

There was a knock at the front door. Unlike last time, when Arnav came bursting in, Khushi would keep the door closed. She didn't know when Arnav would come again, so she did it to be cautious.

But then again, isn't she hoping too much at that point?

Khushi set the food down and went to open the door, expecting her mother. Instead, when she opened the door, it was Aryan Singh Raizada.

"N-namaste," Khushi said, putting her hands together.

"Namaste," Aryan said, putting his hands together.

"Um... Babuji isn't here. Nor is Amma."

"Good. Because I'd like to talk to you."

Khushi gulped. "Me?"

Aryan nodded.

Khushi stood aside and led him into the living room. She wondered why Aryan could be here. Khushi had Aryan sit down and she sat down in a chair beside him.

"It has one to my attention that the star student of our university had been absent for quite some time," Aryan said, folding his hands.

Khushi let out her breath in relief. It wasn't for what she thought. "No," she said," in a low voice. "I haven't been."

"Why is that?"

Khushi said nothing.

"Don't tell me you're dropping out."

Khushi shook her head. "No...."

"Then?"

Khushi stayed mum.

"Betiyan, if you don't tell me, then I'll have to put you as a drop out."

Khushi looked up. "No sir; I haven't been going due to... personal problems."

Aryan just looked at her. "Personal problems?"

Khushi nodded, looking down.

"Family?"

Khushi nodded again, not moving her eyes up.

"Parents?"

She nodded.

"Sibling?"

She shook her head side to side.

"A little bit," he asked to be reassured.

Khushi nodded.

"Outside?"

Khushi nodded.

"Friends?"

Khushi shook her head. "No friends."

Aryan just looked at her. "What do you mean 'no friends'?"

"Meaning I don't have."

"Oh.... I'm sorry betiyan."

Khushi shook her head. "I don't mind."

He shook his head. "Relationships?"

Khushi shook her head.

"... Arnav?"

Khushi's eyes shot up at his and gaped. Aryan just looked at her with a serious expression. He was serious, which meant he knew.

"You... know," Khushi asked.

"Just found out," he said, gesturing with his hands out to the side, and then folded them again.

Khushi looked down, feeling herself go red.

"What's the matter betiyan? Did my son do something?"

Khushi looked at him. "Is that why you're here?"

"Half."

She looked back down.

Aryan leaned forward in his seat. "Betiyan, you have no idea how much you mean to Chote."

"Chote?"

"Arnav."

Khushi nodded in understanding. "How is he?"

"Not good."

Khushi got worried. "What do you mean? Is he okay? Is he sick?"

Aryan just looked at her.

"Please tell me?"

"Do you care?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

"Because I lo-"

Khushi stopped herself. She was about to spill the wand to Arnav's FATHER. But Aryan understood and smiled. He placed his hand over Khushi's head and Khushi looked up at him.

"Bless you betiyan. I knew you would say that, or at least, almost say that."

Khushi blushed, looking back down.

"Don't worry. I don't care of status, wealth, nothing. I just want my son to be happy. Ever since his mother passed away..."

Khushi looked at him.

"... that was all I cared about. I can do anything for my son. And if you're his happiness, then I will do what it takes to give it to him. He loves you Khushi. He really does. And after what happened.... Arnav is refusing to take his medication Khushi."

"What? Why?"

"Because he's upset. He wants you. At night I went to check up on him and all he kept doing was call out your name in his sleep."

That brought tears to Khushi's eyes. "He... he does that?"

Aryan nodded. "Please see him. He's stopped school, he won't eat, he's sick, and he won't take his medication at all. Please go see him." He put his hands together. "Please-"

Khushi held his hands. "Please, don't do that. You're an elder of mine. Don't do that."

"Then will you go to see him."

Khushi took a deep breath and nodded. "I'll go and see him."

"Then we should go quick."

"Today?"

Aryan nodded. "He's getting worse and worse by the day."

"I'll go. Can we go now?"

"I was hoping you'd say that," he smiled.

Chapter Nine

Arnav arrived onto campus early, unable to control his desire of seeing Khushi. In fact he was an hour early. Though he felt a bit ridiculous, he didn't care. Soon students arrived onto campus and Arnav was on the lookout for Khushi.

He didn't see her in the herd and scrunched his eyebrows. Where is she, he wondered.

He had seen Shyam arrive but not Khushi. It was odd to Arnav. He was standing at their usual meetup spot but there was no sign of Khushi. He thought maybe she could've been absent for the day, so he went to class, dealing with the long, boring, dreadful day.

Excited to see her the next day, Arnav once again arrived early on campus. He waited at the usual place, but there was no sight of Khushi. Shyam had arrived but no Khushi.

Is she sick, Arnav wondered.

The next day passed and he was really confused.

Where is she, Arnav wondered. It's been three days now. Is she okay?

Arnav saw Shyam with a group of friends and went after him.

"Yo Shyam!"

Shyam stopped and turned. "'sup Arnav?"

"Where's Khushi? She hasn't been here in days."

Shyam saw how concerned Arnav was and he had never seem anyone this concerned for Khushi, excluding himself.

"Well," Arnav pushed, "where is she? Is she okay?"

Shyam looked down. "I can't tell you."

"What? Why-"

"I just can't."

Arnav got pissed and grabbed Shyam by the collar. Some people noticed and turned to look and Shyam's friends were trying to make Arnav back off, but Arnav was just too strong.

"Now tell me Shyam: Where. Is. Khushi?"

Shyam just looked at him wide eyed.

"WHERE IS SHE?!"

Everything went dead quiet after that. They just froze and looked the two. Hearing Arnav scream like that got everyone scared, almost peeing in their pants.

Shyam had flinched and looked down. "I can't tell you-"

"Shyam, I will kill you if-"

"I can't tell you because I just can't bring it to my mouth," he blurted.

Arnav paused. "What?"

"I... what Di's going through..." he looked up at Arnav. "Arnav you have to go see her. Her condition just gets worse and... and I'm worried for my Di."

Arnav wondered what the problem could be. What could be the problem, he wondered.

"I'll give our address," Shyam said. "Please go see her."

Arnav nodded. "Don't worry - I will."

*~*

Khushi went running to the bathroom. That was the third time today that she went running to vomit. Over the past few days, her eating habit had gone down. The first few days she wouldn't eat, but then she started to since she couldn't control her grumbling stomach. But because of her random diet, it affected her health. Also, Garima would only cook a little food, so when Khushi would go to the kitchen in the middle of the night, there would only be a little food left and that was never enough to satisfy her grumbling tummy.

Khushi washed up and came out of the bathroom. She went to bed and hugged her pillow, trying to catch her breath. All of a sudden, her stomach grumbled. Her tummy was completely empty and she needed food.

Getting up, she went to the kitchen. Garima had gone out and Shashi went to work. Khushi started to make lunch and managed to deal with her grumbling stomach.

Suddenly:

Dhak-dhak! Dhak-dhak!
Dhak-dhak! Dhak-dhak!

Khushi froze. She was getting a feeling. A feeling she only felt when-

"Khushi?!"

Khushi's head whipped around. "A-Arnav," she breathed.

"Khushi!"

Khushi couldn't believe it. Arnav was here? Here in her home? But how?

Lunch was finished and Khushi set everything aside and quickly cleaned up, while Arnav looked around the house. Khushi dashed to her room and Arnav saw her.

"Khushi!"

Khushi saw him, but she quickly ran inside her room and locked the door.

Arnav banged on the door. "Khushi, open up."

Khushi leaned back against the door, crying. She just couldn't see Arnav. She looked terrible and weak, and she was in so much pain, she knew she would crumble.

"Khushi, open the door!"

Khushi bit her lip, crying, and shook her head.

"Khushi, baby please? Open the door."

Khushi took in a shaky breath. "No."

"Baby please, open up-"

"No! Leave!"

"Khushi open the fucking door!"

Arnav had never cursed at her and hearing him now, scared her.

"I am not fucking kidding Khushi, open up the fucking door or I will break it down!"

"No," she cried. "I can't. I won't! I can't put you in danger!"

"What?"

"Arnav please leave! Please do!"

"Khushi, this is ridiculous-"

"Just leave! Please Arnav!"

"Khushi stop! Everything will be fine if you just come out-"

"No! No, no, no! Just leave! Leave me alone! I don't want to see you!"

Arnav was taken aback. "Khushi-"

"GO!!!"

Arnav took two steps back, shocked. Khushi cried and cried, not wanting this at all, but she had no other choice.

"Do you really want this," Arnav asked.

"Yes! Leave!"

Arnav looked down. "Fine," and Khushi knew his feelings were hurt. "I'm leaving. But mark my words, this isn't over Khushi. I will get you back, no matter what, or my name isn't Arnav Singh Raizada."

Arnav left that instant and Khushi slid down her door, crying.

"I'm sorry Arnav," she weeped. "But I only did this because I love you."

*~*

As Khushi continued with her irregular procedure, Arnav himself had begun his own one as well. After fighting with Khushi, he stormed home, and stayed in his room all day. When he was called down to eat, he wouldn't go. When the workers came in with his food, he would tell them to leave. If they wouldn't listen, he would throw the tray.

His Dai Ma had come in as well, but Arnav wouldn't budge. She tried to talk to him to figure out what the problem was, but Arnav got pissed and yelled at her. It made Dai flinch because Arnav had never yelled at her like that. He had always treated her like a mother and when he yelled, it was as if she didn't recognize him.

Arnav continued his behavior, not going to school as well. Aryan had noticed the actions of his son and knew this wasn't just any problem, but a big problem with a big reason behind it.

So he made it his mission to find everything out.

Chapter Eight

"I don't want you to leave yet," Arnav whined.

"Arnav, I have to," Khushi replied.

"Baby please? Another hour?"

"Arnav no! My parents will get suspicious."

Arnav let out a heavy sigh and held her close, his arms wrapped around her waist. "One day... one day I'll have you to myself for a whole day."

"Really?"

"Yerpz."

Khushi boldly wrapped her arms around his neck. "I doubt that."

"A challenge, is it?"

"You could say so."

Arnav pulled her in closer so that her breasts were meshed into his chest.

"Arnav-"

"One day. A full 24 hours, you and me, together."

"Hmm, that would be lovely."

Arnav rubbed his nose on hers, up and down. "That would be heaven," he sighed.

Khushi blushed. "You say the sweetest things."

"I know. It is me after all."

Khushi gaped but Arnav chuckled. They leaned their foreheads together and chuckled.

"I love you Khushi," Arnav whispered.

"I love you too Arnav," Khushi whispered, and she kissed him on his right cheek.

"Not enough."

Khushi looked at him. "What do you mean?"

"You have to prove it."

Khushi didn't understand at first, but then by his expression, she fully understood his intention.

"I love you," she said again and kissed his left cheek.

"Maybe."

"I love you," and she kissed his forehead.

"Debatable."

She slightly giggled. "I love you," and she kissed his nose.

"Probably."

She shook her head. "I love you," and kissed his chin.

"I guess."

Khushi shook her head again while giggling. "Oh Arnav!" She kissed his face again in the same order and then looked at him. "I. Love. You," and she kissed him on his lips.

Both were smiling as they held onto each other, Arnav trying to nibble on her lower lip.

"Arnav stop, I have to go."

Arnav sighed. "Alright baby. I'll let you go," and he pecked her lips. "See you tomorrow."

Khushi nodded. "See you tomorrow."

"I love you."

"I love you too."

"I love you more."

"I love you even more."

"I love you even even more."

"I- Arnav, you're trying to make me late," and she pushed him away to leave, leaving a chuckling Arnav behind.

*~*

Khushi entered her house and was about to head to her room, when Garima called her.

"Khushi," she yelled.

Khushi stopped and turned. Garima came out of the kitchen and walked towards her. Khushi looked in confusion, wondering what her mom wanted to talk to her about. Just as she was about to ask what her mother needed, Garima slapped Khushi across the face.

Khushi gasped, her head turning the other way, her hair covering her face. She looked back up at her mother, gaping at her. "Ma-"

"Don't you dare call me that," Garima sneered. "You have some nerve to after what you've done."

Khushi scrunched her eyebrows. "What did I do-"

"What did you do? You're asking that? Because of you your father and I might never be able to show our faces again."

"I-"

"What did you think? You're just going to go around town with a man and we're never going to find out?"

Khushi's eyes widened and she gaped. "I don't know what you're talking about-"

"Not one word out of your disgraceful mouth! Chi! Is this what we raised you for? To go around town with any man? Huh?!"

Khushi was taken aback. "Ma-"

"Don't you dare call me that! Have you ever thought about what we have to face? Huh?!"

"But-"

"When your father hears this, he is going to explode! What do you want? Huh? What do you want?!"

"But I don't-"

"Don't deny it! Someone has informed me and I know everything. And it's written clearly on your face that you're lying."

"M-m-ma, seriously I-"

All of a sudden, someone spun Khushi around and slapped her. Her hair covered her face and when she looked back up, she saw her father.

"Babuji-"

"Get out of my sight," he boomed.

"But-"

"I don't want to hear another word! You're a disgrace!"

Khushi felt like she got slapped again.

"You are forbidden to meet that man! If I hear that you were with him, or even if I see you, you are going to regret going back on my word! Understood! Now get out of my sight!"

Khushi had tears flowing down and she turned and ran to her room, locking herself in her room. She cried and cried, hugging her pillow, her only source of comfort. She couldn't believe what her parents had said to her. It hurt her heart, hearing the mean things her parents had said.

All night, Khushi cried and cried, no one around to comfort her. There was only one person aware, and he felt really bad for her, but he didn't know what to do.

*~*

Khushi woke up to the sunlight pouring on her face. She got up and looked at her reflection in the mirror. She had tear stains all over her face. Looking at it reminded her of the night before and it brought tears to her eyes.

"Di!" It was Shyam.

"Haan Shyam?"

"Hurry! We're gonna be late."

Khushi stopped right there. She didn't want to go to school, not after what had happened the night before. She still felt miserable and she didn't know if she could see Arnav. It wasn't just that she was scared by her father's words, but she knew she would crumble at the sight of him.

"I'm not going," Khushi said, holding back tears.

"What? But Didi why-"

"Humne kaha na?! I'm not going!"

"But-"

"Leave!"

Shyam flinched. He had never heard his sister ever say something so mean to him. Ever.

"Go!"

"... okay Didi," and Shyam left.

Khushi sat on her bed an cried. She felt bad for yelling at her brother, but she ended up doing it anyways.

The day passed and Khushi just cried in bed. It was nightfall before she even knew it, and she cried herself to sleep. The same thing happened the next day. She yelled at Shyam that she wasn't going to college and she stayed in her room all day. She survived off of her memories with Arnav. She thought of when they first met, their interactions in the library, their confession, their first date, first kiss, everything.

And the fact that she couldn't see him now was breaking her heart. Khushi continued to do so for the week, no one but Shyam coming over to see how she was doing. Shyam was worried about his sister and hoped Arnav was back.

See, Arnav had gone away with his father to the city for a convention/meeting and the Raizada family was invited. With him gone, Khushi was alone. Arnav had left the second day Khushi hadn't gone to school, and he would be coming back to school tomorrow.

Khushi didn't even think of Arnav coming to her. It was out of question because why would Arnav come to her home? But little did she know that she was in for a surprise.

Chapter Seven

Solving the situation, Khushi had shifted back to her regular schedule, working at the daycare after school like she used to. Things went back to normal with Arnav and Khushi spending time during their free time and on the weekends. Arnav would ignore Viren and Sheetal, still pissed at them for their attitude, mostly at Sheetal. Khushi tried to make him understand, but he wouldn't budge.

Soon, Arnav and Khushi had become the star people on campus. They even got a couple name (which I'm sure many of us know ;-) lolz): ArShi. All over campus, that's all people buzzed about. ArShi this, ArShi that - nonstop ArShi. But who couldn't? Some even actually started to think that they were cute together.

Though most people actually started to like seeing ArShi together, there were some who didn't whatsoever. One person in particular: Sheetal. Sheetal couldn't stand the two together. She would go the other way when she saw them together, disgusted seeing a handsome guy like Arnav with a nothing like Khushi.

One day when she was late to class intentionally, she was going to class, when she saw Arnav. Finding it a chance to talk alone, she followed him. Arnav was faster than she was and he just zoomed around, but Sheetal followed behind.

When she turned the corner, she saw Arnav leaning against the wall. She was about to go to him, when Khushi appeared, which ticked Sheetal off.

"Arnav," Khushi began, "why did you tell me to meet you here?"

Arnav held his hand out and Khushi placed hers in his. He pulled her in and Khushi widened her eyes and looked at his mischievous grin.

"Because I can," he simply said.

Khushi felt slightly scared. "A-Arnav I-I-I have c-class-"

"It can wait," he said, tucking her hair behind her hair.

Sheetal scowled. Look at her, she said in her head, acting all cutesy and innocent, she twitched her lips.

"Arnav-"

"Shh," Arnav shushed Khushi. "Just a few minutes."

"But Arnav, it's an important lecture-"

"It doesn't matter," he cupped her face, "because I know my Khushi is a bright woman."

Khuushi looked into his eyes. "Really?"

"With all my heart."

Khushi smiled a shy smile, blushing lightly.

Are you serious, Sheetal exclaimed in her head. She was about to go and say something, when Arnav turned Khushi and himself around, backing Khushi up against the wall.

"Arnav, what are you-"

But Arnav cut Khushi off, kissing her. Khushi was surprised by his sudden action and Sheetal's jaw had dropped to the ground. Eventually Khushi's eyes drifted shut and she melted into Arnav's kiss. She let out a tiny moan and Arnav let out a small growl from his throat. He grew hungry for her and deepened the kiss, holding Khushi up against the wall with his hips.

Sheetal couldn't believe what he was seeing with her own two eyes. She was in complete shock! Her eyes were just stuck on ArShi.

Arnav let go of Khushi's lips and trailed down to her neck. Khushi's eyes were wide, pupils dilated.

"Arnav," Khushi whispered as she felt him suck on her neck.

Arnav's hands went to her waist and held her in place. Khushi had her arms wrapped around his neck, one hand going in his hair instinctively.

"Arnav please," Khushi whispered.

She felt him nibble on her neck and she took in a sharp breath, grasping his hair tight. Arnav blew against it and looked up at her wide, doe-like eyes. Leaning in, he kissed her lips softly and gave it a love bite.

"Mmph," Khushi moaned.

Arnav smiled and kissed the corner of her mouth. "I love you Khushi," he whispered.

Sheetal gaped.

"I love you too Arnav," Khushi whispered back.

Arnav ran his nose along hers and nuzzled her hair, while Sheetal was fuming. She turned away and leaned back against the wall. She couldn't believe what she had just seen! Unable to stand there another second, she stormed away.

"What does she think of herself," she huffed to herself. "Her! That loser! With Arnav?! What the hell?! I mean his dad is the fucking mayor and her parents-"

Sheetal stopped in her tracks.

"Wait a minute... her parents. ... her parents?"

The corner of her lips slightly curved.

"Her parents," she smirked an evil smirk.

*~*

Garima was finishing up with lunch when the phone rang. Shashi was out so she lowered the heat on the stove and went to get the phone.

"Hello," she said into the phone.

"Garima Gupta," the person asked.

"Yes, who is this?"

"Doesn't matter. Let's just say I'm a person to help you."

"Help me? What do you mean?"

"Help you as in save your social status."

Garima was getting slightly pissed. "Meaning?"

"Mrs. Gupta, did you know that your daughter Khushi Kumari Gupta has been going around town with a man?"

Garima's eyes widened. "What," she asked exasperated.

"Yes. Your daughter Khushi has been going around town with a guy - her boyfriend."

Garima gaped.

"I just thought you might want to know, since your daughter and that man are really, extremely close so...."

Garima fumed. "Well," she said calmly, "thank you for the information."

"No problem. My pleasure, anytime."

Garima nodded and placed the phone down. "That girl is done for."

*~*

Sheetal put her phone in her pocket. "Problem done, dealt, gone," she smirked.

*~*

Arnav brushed Khushi's hair aside and kissed her ear, the side of her face, and nibbled on her neck.

"Arnav, please," Khushi whispered.

He let go and shook his head, rubbing his nose on her neck, and then went back to nibbling on it.

"Arnav please? Im trying to study."

"Then try harder," he murmured against her neck.

"I can't," she shivered.

"Why not," he teased.

"You know why," she said, barely audible.

He smiled against her neck and hugged her. Arnav and Khushi were out in the backyard of the daycare, all alone. Khushi sat between Arnav's legs, trying to study, while Arnav tried to distract her.

Arnav made her look at him and tucked in a strand of hair. "Sweetheart, I know you're very smart. You'll do fine on your finals."

"I hope so," she grumbled.

"You will; I know it."

Khushi put her book down and turned to look at him. "How is it that you have so much faith in me?"

Arnav leaned back, supporting himself with one arm. "Because I love you," he said, brushing her bangs behind her ears.

"Do you really?"

"Yes."

"Really?"

Arnav stopped playing with her hair and looked at her. In a split second, he turned them over, laying her on her back and trapping him with his legs, pinning her wrists above her head. Khushi gaped up at Arnav, her eyes wide and slightly scared.

"Were there ever any doubts," Arnav asked, teasingly.

Khushi noticed the glint in his eyes and shook her head.

Arnav smirked. "I didn't think so."

He leaned in and nibbled on her neck, Khushi shutting her eyes due to her fluttering heart. He sucked hard on her flesh and she grasped onto his hair.

"Arnav," she whispered.

Arnav lightly blew on her neck and let go to look at her. She looked right back into his eyes, his gleaming, soft eyes.

"Khushi, I love you. I without a doubt, 100 percent love you. Without you, my world feels like nothing. Those few days without you... I can't even explain how I felt because there are no words to describe it. With you... my world feels perfect. Seriously Khushi, I love you. I really, truly-"

But Arnav didn't get to finish. Khushi cupped his face and kissed him hard, like her life depended on it. Arnav was still at first, but then he kissed her back.

Khushi let go. "I'm sorry I doubted you-"

"Shh," Arnav soothed. "Don't-"

"But-"

"Khushi, no. I know you didn't mean to doubt me. From what's been going on in your life...."

Tears pricked in Khushi's eyes. Arnav shook his head, gesturing not to cry, and then hugged her.

"It's okay baby," Arnav soothed. "Everything will be alright."

Khushi nodded. "But... I don't know why, but I'm getting a bad feeling-"

"Shh. Everything will be alright."

Chapter Six

Later that day, Arnav really had to meet up with Khushi. With everyone talking shit in every direction, he knew at least one person would've offended Khushi at any cost. When he arrived to class, he didn't see Khushi there.

That's weird, he thought. Khushi never misses class.

Sitting in his seat, he looked around. Khushi wasn't in sight! Class began, and Khushi still hadn't arrived. Throughout the entire class, all Arnav would do was look up at the door. He kept expecting Khushi to come through the door, but she never came. It worried Arnav now.

Did someone say something to her? I hope not, he gritted his teeth.

When class ended, Arnav went zooming out the class.

"Yo Arnav," Viren hollered, but Arnav completely ignored him.

"What's his deal," a friend asked.

"Nah, don't worry. He'll be over it."

*~*

Arnav headed to the library, expecting Khushi where they normally sat. But once he arrived there, Khushi wasn't in sight. She wasn't anywhere in the library! This got Arnav mad and he didn't like it one bit. He went out of the library and looked for Khushi all over campus, but no dice!

This continued on a few days, but Arnav never saw her. Unfortunately, their Business Administration class had gotten cancelled for the week, so Arnav wouldn't be able to see Khushi whatsoever in that class for now. And every day he would go to the library, Arnav would never see her. This was really starting to irritate Arnav, and he wasn't going to take it for long.

Then it came to Arnav that she worked at the local daycare, so he decided to go there. After all his classes, he went over there and saw the lady at the front counter.

"Hi," Arnav said. "I'm looking for Khushi. Khushi Kumari Gupta."

The lady smiled. "Khushi? I'm sorry, but she's not here now."

"What? But she works after her classes."

"She used to. Now she comes in during the middle of the day, when she has her free time."

Now Arnav understood where she would disappear off during their free time. She would come here, so that this way she could entirely avoid him.

"But why are you looking for her," the lady asked.

Arnav snapped back to earth. "Oh, I have a surprise for her."

"Is that so?"

"Yeah. You know, since she's my girlfriend."

"Oh how sweet," she gushed.

"Yeah," he breathed. "Anyways, thanks."

"No problem," she smiled.

Arnav turned to walk away, when he turned back. "Excuse me?"

"Yes," she said looking up.

"Could you not tell Khushi I was here? So that I can surprise her?'

"Of course! I won't say a word," she smiled, pretending to zip her lips.

Arnav smiled and he walked out. He headed towards home and couldn't help but to think of his discovery. Khushi was avoiding him. She was truly avoiding him. But why? Did someone say something really offensive? But she still came to college; it was just that she was gone during her free time.

Then what could it be, he wondered. Whatever. It doesn't matter. I'm not letting go of you so easily Khushi Kumari Gupta.

*~*

Khushi walked into the daycare and set her things down in the back. She went over to the room with the little kids from 9 months to 2 years. Not only did this daycare watch kids for you, but it was also an orphanage. Infants younger were in a different room, taken special care of.

A new member had joined the daycare. He was only 10 months, and his discovery was sad. The owner of the daycare was walking around the outskirts of town, when she heard a baby crying. She followed the sound and saw the baby, abandoned, wrapped in a blanket, under a tree. Taking the baby in, it joined the family.

"What's his name Aunty," Khushi asked the owner.

"I was thinking we'd name this cute one Raghav. What do you think?"

Khushi nodded, taking Raghav in her arms. "It's a beautiful name."

The owner nodded and she left to take care of the younger infants.

Khushi walked around with Raghav, admiring his tininess. Khushi absolutely loved babies. They were just too cute! That's one of the reasons why she would work at the daycare. Seeing all the little children made her heart feel delighted.

"Alright you guys, nappy time," Khushi said.

The older ones got excited and quickly ran to their rugs in the sleeping corner and laid down. Khushi went over to them and tucked them in. Once the older ones fell asleep, Khushi put Raghav down and started to put the younger ones to sleep. Each one falling asleep, Khushi sighed, when Raghav cried. Khushi quickly went over to him and picked him up.

"Aw, why are you crying baby," she cooed. "Hmm? Why are you crying? Is it because I left you alone? Hmm?"

Khushi grabbed his bottle and placed it in his mouth.

"Don't worry Raghav. No one is going to leave you now. You're safe here. You're not alone."

"And what about me?"

Khushi froze. No, she thought. It can't be.

Slowly turning, she saw Arnav standing at the doorway, his arms crossed, him leaning against the door. Khushi gulped and looked away. She didn't want to see him. All these days, she had successfully managed to avoid him, and now here he was.

Arnav pushed away and walked towards Khushi. He stood inches away from her, but Khushi still felt the warmth radiating off his body. Seeing Raghav asleep, Khushi moved over to his crib and placed him down.

"Khushi we-"

Khushi ignored him and walked past him.

"Khushi?"

Khushi continued to walk away and left the room. Arnav followed behind her as she walked into another room. There were chests full of clothes, each chest with a nameplate, saying whose clothes were in the drawer. Khushi walked over to Raghav's chest and went through it.

"Khushi, we need to talk," Arnav said.

Khushi continued to ignore him and took out pajamas and shut the drawer. She walked past Arnav and went back to the baby room. She placed the clothes beside Raghav and moved to another crib. Picking up a baby girl, Abha, she shook her head.

"Abha! You're still awake," Khushi exclaimed. "You're so sly aren't you," she tickled Abha's stomach.

Taking Abha with her, she went back to the room with the chests. Arnav was feeling slightly irritated, but seeing her with children gave him a humble feeling.

"Hmm, what shall our princess wear," Khushi said.

Going through Abha's drawer, she pulled out yellow pajamas.

"No wonder you're awake. You can't sleep in this puffy dress, now then can you? No you can't! No you can't," Khushi cooed.

Placing Abha down on the changing table, Khushi removed Abha's dress and pants. Taking Abha's pajamas, she put them on and took Abha back to the baby room. She patted her lightly and soon Abha was asleep. Khushi placed her down and left the room, shutting the door behind.

"Khushi-"

Khushi moved and went to a computer. Setting the camera, Khushi turned the camera on and let the monitor run, like a baby monitor.

"Alright Khushi-"

Khushi ignored Arnav and walked outside to the back. Arnav really had had enough and stormed after her. Once he got outside, he grabbed Khushi's wrist and turned her to face him.

"Ah! Let me go," Khushi said, trying to free herself.

"No. Never."

"Arnav-"

"Khushi, why have you been avoiding me?"

Khushi looked up at him wide eyed. "I...." She looked away. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"Oh really? Is that so?"

His grip tightened.

"Ouch! Arnav, you're hurting me-"

"And you're not hurting me?!"

Khushi looked into his eyes and saw the pain forming in his eyes. Khushi never wanted this, but she just had to.

"Arnav... I'm sorry but... I can't do this anymore."

"What," he breathed.

"Arnav... I just... I can't. I'm sorry, I can't."

She pushed his hand off and started to walk away. Arnav didn't understand. He ran towards Khushi and turned her to face him.

"What are you talking about? Khushi, don't you have the same feelings I have for you?"

"Yes-"

"Then why? Why are you doing this? To us?"

"Arnav please don't do this-"

"Why? What is stopping you? Where is the problem?"

"Arnav...."

"Tell me Khushi."

Khushi sighed and looked at Arnav. "It's my parents."

Arnav scrunched his eyebrows. "What about your parents?"

"They would never agree to this. If they found out.... I'd never be able to prove to my parents that as a girl, I can be something big and that I am NOT worthless," she cried.

"Oh sweetheart," and he pulled her into a hug.

Khushi cried into his chest as Arnav stroked her hair.

"I don't understand why my parents hate me so much," Khushi cried.

"Shh... they don't know what they're missing." He kissed her hair and cupped her face and made her look at him. "Khushi, it doesn't matter. Be it that we're together or not, you will be able to prove to them that you are capable of something."

"But Arnav-"

"No buts baby. You will prove them wrong. Understood?"

Khushi nodded, her lower lip quivering.

Arnav shook his head and leaned in and kissed her. Khushi had missed the feeling of his lips on hers and she pulled him in close. Arnav responded to her urgent want and kissed her with passion. Khushi let go first, and Arnav rested his forehead on hers.

"Khushi, why would you even think that?"

"I... well, Sheetal-"

"That bitch," he sneered.

"Arnav! This is a daycare!"

"I'm sorry!" He looked away, exasperated. Looking back at her, he cupped her face. "Khushi, don't ever listen to what that bitch says."

"Arnav-"

"I don't care if this is a daycare or not; do you understand what I'm saying?"

Khushi nodded.

He pulled her in and kissed her hard. "Don't ever leave me again," he muttered against her lips.

"I won’t... ever, ever again," she said, shaking her head, and they kissed again.

Chapter Five

On campus, there was nothing but buzzing going on. Everyone talked about just ONE topic. Everyone was talking about how a student on campus had seen Arnav and Khushi together. At first, people didn't believe it.

It all started out with the girl, a nerd, who had seen them in the park. She told her friends, but no one believed her. She convinced them, and her friends started to believe her. Other people over heard, and from one after another, people spread the rumor around. No one could believe that Arnav Singh Raizada was actually dating Khushi... Khushi... whatever her full name is.

Two people in particular couldn't believe a word they were hearing: Viren and Sheetal.

"What," Viren exclaimed. "Are you kidding me?!"

"No man," his friend said. "It's the buzz all over campus."

"You've got to be kidding me," Sheetal said. "How the hell does that LOSER get with ARNAV SINGH RAIZADA?!"

"There must be something to this," Viren said. "We need to find out the truth."

*~*

When Khushi arrived on campus, all eyes were on her. It didn't bother her, since everyone always looked at her and poked fun at her. Feeling it as the usual deed that happens to her, Khushi ignored it and continued her way to class. She noticed girls gawking at her and it confused Khushi entirely.

As she was about to enter the lecture hall, Sheetal came right in front of her. She stared Khushi down and Khushi scrunched her eyebrows, confused as to what Sheetal was even doing here.

"We need to talk," Sheetal said.

Talk, Khushi wondered. But she never talks to me.

Sheetal grabbed Khushi's wrist and dragged her with her to somewhere private where they could talk.

Meanwhile...

When Viren saw Arnav arrive onto campus, he took Arnav aside and went somewhere private to talk.

"What's up man," Arnav asked. "Why you pulling me over for?"

"Arnav, what's going on with you?"

"Meaning?"

"Meaning what's this crap I hear about you and that loser Khushi."

Arnav shut his eyes and calmed himself. "Khushi is not a loser."

"Oh? So I guess its true; that you two are together."

Arnav looked him in the eye. "Yeah. You got a problem with that?"

Viren widened his eyes. "Are... are you serious?"

"Well that's what you wanted to know, right? Well now you know for sure. Khushi and I are together. We go out."

Viren gaped.

"And if you have a problem with that, then you go shove it up your ass," and Arnav left.

Viren couldn't believe what he heard. He had to talk to Sheetal about this, and fast!

*~*

Sheetal dragged Khushi aside and flung her arm, making Khushi trip slightly.

"Sheetal, what are you-?"

"You ratchet bitch," Sheetal sneered.

Khushi stared at Sheetal confused, also hurt.

"What do you think of yourself," Sheetal yelled. "That a nobody, a LOSER like YOU, would ever get with Arnav Singh Raizada?!"

Khushi felt a lump build in her throat.

"Puhleez! Have you seen yourself in the mirror Khushi? Look at you! You're in baggy clothes that don't even fit you! You're ugly as shit, which is why everyone calls you ratchet for a reason! And you think you have the chance to be with Arnav Singh Raizada?"

Khushi looked down at the ground.

"Quit dreaming Khushi. If there's any girl that Arnav would ever like, then it's definitely not like you. She would have class, like me," she smiled.

Khushi tried to swallow the lump in her throat, but it didn't go.

"So back off Khushi! An ugly fuck like you doesn't go with Arnav. He's too good for you. Besides, what do you have? Arnav is the Mayor's son! He has wads of cash and a huge ass home! What do you have? Your family doesn't even have a big home! What do you expect? That is unless you and your family are gold diggers."

Khushi looked up, a tear streaming down her cheek.

Sheetal flared her nostrils. "That's what it is, isn't it," she slightly squinted. "You're after Arnav's money, aren't you?"

Khushi opened her mouth to speak, but Sheetal cut her off.

"Pathetic," she spat. "You always have been, always are, and always will be pathetic."

Khushi looked down as more tears streamed down her cheeks.

"Anyways, stay away from Arnav. If anything, then he'd be way more interested in a girl like me; one who actually has something to offer, unlike you," she looked Khushi up and down.

Sheetal turned on her heels and walked away. Khushi hugged her books as tears went flowing down. She quickly ran to the girls’ bathroom, ran into the biggest stall and cried. She cried and cried, never being this insulted by anyone else in her life, besides her parents.

Khushi sniffled. "I don't like Arnav for his money," she said aloud. "I like him because he's the only one who's ever understood me," she cried. She bit her quivering lip. "He’s the only one that's ever loved me."

Khushi wiped her tears, when she remembered her parents. She hadn't even thought about them. If they had found out about her and Arnav, they probably wouldn't have even spared her alive!

"What do I do," Khushi wondered aloud. "If they find out.... Things would just get ugly...." Khushi wiped away her tears. "No. I can't afford that. If I lose one bit, then I'll never be able to prove to them that as a girl, I am capable of something. ... I can't risk it."

But Khushi realized.

"But if I do that... I'll have to sacrifice the one I love... the only person who has ever loved me...."

It made Khushi cry, remembering the sweet little moments her and Arnav had had together. But if she was going to do what she was going to do, then she would have to make sacrifices.

Khushi shut her eyes and a lone tear came down. "Forgive me Arnav," she whispered.

Wiping her tears away, she looked up and took in several deep breaths. Once her breath steadied, she stepped out of the stall and went over to the basin and washed her face. Wiping her face with a paper towel, she looked herself in the mirror. Looking back at her was a Khushi that knew she had to stand strong, yet heartbroken from the sacrifice of her love.

Taking in another deep breath, she turned to leave and headed to class.

Knowing it would be a somewhat difficult task, Khushi decided that she would avoid Arnav. She knew where he would go, and she purposely avoided those areas.

But this wasn't the end of this.
