Chapter Twenty Two

Khushi hummed as she fixed the bed. It was a beautiful, sunny day and Khushi was exceptionally happy. Why wouldn't she be after all the sensations her husband made her feel the night before?

Khushi glanced up and saw Arnav on the phone, talking to someone from the office. They had just woken up and were in the middle of making out when Arnav's phone rang. Although Arnav wanted to ignore it, Khushi insisted on him taking the call. Especially when it rang for the fourth time, which really ticked Arnav off. Since then, Arnav had been stuck on the phone.

Khushi finished making the bed and went towards Arnav and placed a hand on his shoulder. Arnav turned and looked at her and Khushi pointed out, indicating that she was going to the kitchen. Arnav nodded and kissed her forehead, making Khushi smile, and she left. She headed towards the kitchen and started to work on breakfast. Looking at the time, she blushed, the clock reading five minutes to one.

Who has breakfast at this time, she said in her head. If we were at home... that's embarrassing, she blushed.

Out of nowhere, Arnav came around her and hugged her from behind. "What's my wifey blushing about," he asked as he helped Khushi mix the pancake batter.

Khushi looked up at him. "Nothing," she quickly said.

"Now, now wifey, you know you shouldn't hide things from me," Arnav said as he dipped his finger in the batter.

"Really?"

"Mm hmm," and he placed his finger on her nose, smearing her nose with the batter, causing Khushi to recoil.

"Arnav!"

Khushi picked up the dish towel and wiped her nose as Arnav chuckled. She pouted and threw the towel at Arnav, but Arnav just chuckled as he grabbed it. Khushi huffed and went back to mixing the batter.

Arnav came from behind again. "I'm sorry," he pouted.

Khushi glanced at him. "It's okay," and she quickly dipped her fingers in the batter and turned to smear it on his face.

Arnav backed away, but not fast enough as Khushi got it on his face. Khushi giggled away as Arnav gaped at her. He wiped his face clean and made a face that read this means war and Khushi placed her hands on her hips.

"Bring it," she said confidently.

In a flash, Arnav dashed towards her, but Khushi ran. The two went running around the house, Khushi laughing away, as well as Arnav. They got to the living room and Khushi went running behind the sofa as Arnav stood in front of it.

"Khushi, I'm gonna get you, so you might as well give up," Arnav said.

"Doubt it. I'm pretty fast," Khushi smiled.

"So confident, hmm?"

Khushi shrugged. "Can't help it. I do have a naughty little brother, after all."

"Ah, of course. All trained up, are we?"

Khushi stood proudly. "Of course," she mocked in pride.

"Well it won't be of any use," and he went after her.

Khushi shrieked and ran out to the beach. Arnav wasn't so far behind, but Khushi wasn't giving up that easily. They ran along the warm sand, the sun shining brightly on them, the water splashing as they ran across it. Khushi was starting to run out of breath and looked back to see Arnav slowing down to catch his own breath.

"Oh come on Arnav," she hollered. "You're not that tired are you?"

Arnav came to a total stop and had his hands on his knees. He didn't reply, causing Khushi to wonder.

"Arnav?"

He didn't reply and went kneeling down into the sand, his hand over his chest, face down, huffing.

Khushi's concern grew. "Arnav?!"

Khushi ran over to Arnav and came to her knees in front of him. Arnav had his eyes tightly shut as he gripped his shirt above his heart. His jaw was tight, him clenching his teeth really hard.

"Arnav? What's wrong? Are you okay?"

Arnav didn't reply, his eyes tightly screwed shut.

"Arnav? What is it it? Is it hurting? Arnav? Please say something! Arnav?! Oh please, oh please, be okay! Arnav-"

Out of nowhere, Arnav reached out and grabbed her, rolling her over and placing her beneath him, on the sand. Khushi gasped as Arnav smirked cockily at him.

"Told you I'd get you," he smirked.

Khushi gaped at Arnav. From the way Arnav was acting, Khushi thought he was having a heart attack or something, but he faked it! Khushi clenched her teeth and roughly pushed him away. Arnav was blown away by her actions and watched as Khushi huffed and got up, walking away from him. Arnav then realized his mistake. The look Khushi had on her face showed that she was really scared and really concerned.

Getting up, Arnav called out to her. "Khushi!"

But Khushi didn't stop and continued walking back towards the house. Arnav started to run after her, following Khushi back into the house.

"Khushi, sweetheart, I'm sorry," Arnav said as he reached her.

But Khushi didn't reply and continued to walk away. Arnav reached out and grabbed her by her arm and turned her towards him and gasped. Khushi's face was stained with tears, tears still flowing down her cheeks.

"Oh baby," Arnav said softly, and pulled her to him.

Khushi rebelled, trying to push him away, but she soon gave up, knowing his strength was no match for her. Instead she clutched onto his shirt and cried into his chest. Arnav knew then that he messed up big time. He didn't think Khushi would react this way! Slowly withdrawing, Arnav tilted Khushi's face up so she would look at him. At the sight of her tears, his heart clenched and he wiped her tears away.

"I'm so sorry baby," Arnav said softly. "I didn't think you would cry or-"

"Do you have any idea how scared I got," Khushi yelled.

Arnav's eyes widened in shock. He had never heard Khushi this angry before.

"Do you have any idea how worried I was?! Did you think it was funny?! Dammit Arnav, if something had happened to you.... I thought I was going to lose you," she said, and the tears came flowing down again.

Arnav shushed her and kissed her tears away. He felt guilty for hurting her this way. "I'm sorry angel," he said softly.

Khushi sniffled. "It's okay," she replied softly.

She hugged him and Arnav held her tightly. He looked at her and wondered what he did in his life to deserve an angel like her. He looked out the window and up at the sky. In that instant, he knew who had sent her in his life. At that moment, Khushi pulled away and saw him smiling as he looked out at the beautiful, clear blue sky.

"Um, Arnav... what are you looking at," she asked.

"Not looking," he said. "Thanking."

Khushi scrunched her eyebrows and Arnav looked at her. He placed a kiss on her forehead, making Khushi melt.

He cupped her face and smiled lightly. "I was thanking my mom for bringing you into my life."

Khushi felt her heart bloom as she looked into his eyes. It was one of the sweetest things he had ever said to her. Smiling with tears in her eyes, she hugged him again and Arnav held his angel to his heart, never wanting to let go of her again.
